Share
To be read carefully before any maneuver
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
- Park the towing vehicle and the trailer on flat and stable ground.
- Apply the vehicle's handbrake.
- Check the general condition: tires, safety cables, lights, drawbar, hitch, etc.
HITCHING A TRAILER
1 Approach
- Slowly reverse the vehicle until the tow ball aligns with the trailer's coupling head.
- Use assistance or a camera if needed.
2 Lowering the coupling head
- Attach the safety cable to the tow ball
- Turn the handle of the jockey wheel to gently lower the head onto the ball.
- The lock must be firm and audible (click).
- Check for excessive play. Check the indicator on the coupling head
- If there is a parking brake on the trailer, disengage it before driving.
3 Jockey wheel
Once the trailer is in place:
- Completely raise the jockey wheel using the handle.
- Loosen the clamp and raise it vertically or remove it as preferred.
- Retighten the clamp firmly.
4 Connection
- Connect the electrical plug (lights).
- Check that all lights are working (turn signals, brake, headlights).
5 Final check
- Check that the hitch is securely locked.
- Remove the wheel chocks.
- Get into the vehicle and test the trailer's behavior for a few meters.
UNHITCHING A TRAILER
1 Stop and safety
- Park on level ground.
- Apply the vehicle's handbrake.
- Place chocks under the trailer wheels, or parking brake if present
2 Disconnection
- Unplug the electrical connector.
3 Removing the coupling head
- Unlock the coupling head.
- Use the jockey wheel to lift the trailer off the ball (open the clamp until the jockey wheel touches the ground, tighten the clamp, then turn the handle while keeping the head handle raised).
- Remove the safety cable
Be careful not to maneuver the trailer on the jockey wheel if it is overloaded at the front
